MISSIONS

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19)

THE GOSPEL AT WORK

We seek to obey this Great Commission at home and abroad, both by reaching out in love to our neighbors and by supporting men and women who take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Below are the missions we financially support at Pinehaven Presbyterian Church.

Alonzo ramirez

Alonzo is a native Peruvian working with the Christian Missionary Society, planting Presbyterian and Reformed churches in northern Peru. Peru Mission co-labors with the Holy Spirit in the major cities of Northern Peru, establishing Christian communities that are molded, shaped, and propelled by the Gospel. Through pastoral ministry, relief work, leadership training, university ministry, parish day-schools, and economic development, the Lord is building strong, vibrant parish churches that are not only becoming self-sustaining and self-propagating, but also actively involved in bringing God’s justice, mercy, and peace to the world around them.

BENTRY MHANGO

Bentry is a native of Malawi who studied at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS until 2007, and is now back in Malawi teaching at African Bible College.

Michelle Maly

Michelle Maly is with Lifesong for Orphans. She is originally from Omaha, attended Belhaven University in Jackson, MS, and has served in Odessa, Ukraine since 2002. A short-term mission trip while in college introduced Michelle to the plight of Ukrainian orphans, and soon her prayers for the children she had met led Michell to leave her home in order to bring the love of a family to children in need. She and her Ukrainian teammates minister to orphans living in government orphanages and trade schools. Michelle also helps run transition and foster homes where children and teenagers live in families with Christian house parents as they grow and them transition into adult life. When the war began, Michelle, some teammates, and some orphans evacuated out of Ukraine. Other teammates have remained, and the ministry has shifted to meet the changing needs of children and families in a country in conflict. Michelle continues to leas and help organize the team as they provide humanitarian aid and supplies to those in need, stay in contact with orphan graduates and evacuated kids, and support the families of children who attended the orphanage school before the war.

Tom & Catalina Nachtergaele

Tom is a Mission To the World (MTW) missionary working in Belgium. The 18.26 Network ministry is a new division within MTW providing an alternative missions deployment focused on vocational calling. The name comes from Acts 18:26, “He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they invited him to their home and explained to him the way of God more adequately.” The 18.26 Network facilitates a growing number of Christians engaged in global mission using their vocations. Tom and Catalina are leading the effort in Europe to develop and grow 18.26 opportunities primarily in connection with MTW Teams, Churches, and Church Plants. It is very much a church-based movement and we are very excited about the vision and strategy of the 18.26 Network blending business professionals and traditional missionaries to support and grow the local Church.”

Aaron and Rachel Halbert

Aaron and Rachel Halbert serve in Tegucigalpa, Honduras with Mission to the World. Aaron was born and spent the early
part of his life in Honduras. Rachel is a Mississippi delta girl who fell in love with missions through short term trips to Haiti. Because of the impact missions had upon each of their lives there was
always a deep desire to live overseas. After seminary God in His kindness opened the door for them to do church planting in Tegucigalpa. In 2017, Aaron, alongside a national partner, planted
Iglesia Presbiteriana Gracia Soberana. Rachel and the kids enjoy serving alongside Aaron while opening their home through hospitality and finding ways to build relationships in the church, the kids’ school, and with neighbors. The hope and prayer for the coming years is to continue church planting, establish a seminary, develop an internship program for potential church planters, start
campus ministry, and open a publishing house
